Nowadays, we come across many memes and riddle viral over the social media site.
These viral Equation distract us so much, but on the other side, they are somehow helpful as they help in brain development.
And one of the rapidly spreading puzzles is 8÷2(2+2)? But after the research work, we get to know that some people are saying that the answer is one(1), but it is not the correct answer. The correct answer is sixteen (16).
This expression can be solved by order of operation known as BODMAS/PEDMAS.
The Answer is 16 for The Viral Equation
Everyone is in the argument with the first step that is simplifying the bracket that is (2+2) = 4
so going through the rule of BODMAS now we will divide the expression that is 8÷2 = 4
now, 4(4) = 16.
which means by following the correct sequence we get the right answer that is 16
The Other Result is 1
Many people have a different interpretation that the response to the expression mentioned above is the mathematically wrong one.
Suppose it was 1917 and you saw 8÷2(2+2)in a textbook. What would you think the author was trying to write?
Historically the symbol ÷ was used to mean you should divide by the entire product on the right of the symbol. But it is not as it seems.
Under that interpretation:
= 8÷2(2+2) = 8÷2(4) = 8÷8 = 1
Remember, this is an outdated technique. So answer one is incorrect; rather, it is what someone has interpreted the equation using the old method.
